Natalie B Coleman’s use of pleats is one of the many reasons I love her work. This printed dress from Natalie’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, “Sarah’s Suitcase”, is made from 100% stretch jersey and features pleated back detailing. The oyster digital print is incredibly feminine and the use of pastel blue, pink and green tones are perfect for the spring and summer months. I think it’s safe to say that “Sarah’s Suitcase” is going to be another hit for Natalie!

Sil Gaviraghi is an emerging Italian womenswear designer, establishing her own brand back in November 2011 after graduating from Istituto Marangoni in Milan. Simple silhouettes, comfort and creative edge through unique materials is Sil’s aim throughout her work, and she abides by this brilliantly each season.
Sil’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection, “Deconstructed Paradise”, is inspired from John Sibthorp and Ferdinand Bauer’s ‘Flora Graeca’, and “finely crafted botanical illustrations depicting every minute aspects were sources of inspiration for embroidery motifs and a colour palette ranging from steel blue and dirty whites to faint beiges, sage and peachy hues”. Transparent materials give the collection a desirable edge, and with flirty dresses bombarding a large percentage of the collection, femininity is evident throughout.

After seeing KTZ‘s Autumn/Winter 2013 collection during London Fashion Week in February, I’ve grown increasingly fond of the brand. Their edgy style is everything I love to see in a designer or brand, emerging or established. This passport bag which I found while flicking through BOYS BOYS BOYS is great if you’re shopping on a budget but want your passport to travel in style. Although, let’s be honest, it’s a great piece if you’re looking to add a hint of edge to an otherwise simple outfit, passport or not. This bag is from the brands Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which explains its affordability, and made from 100% leather. I want one!

I’m a big fan of this dress from London based womenswear brand MASC‘s Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It’s short sleeved with wing hip detail and features a scoop neck with a deeper scoop back. The colour and length make this piece ideal for summer, and it looks great when paired with MASC’s signature black leather stud belt, as seen in the image. Better yet, the dress is made in England using 100% wool crepe to ensure luxury quality and comfort.
Dress, £340.00, from MASC

However, if you’re after something a little glitzier, take a look at MissesDressy, a boutique turned e-shop specialising in evening wear, and their dresses at www.missesdressy.com/dresses/new-evening-dresses.

For Spring/Summer 2013, Paris based womenswear duo Martinez Lierah has produced a collection dominated by clean cuts and intriguing drapery. The small but admirable palette of black, blue and nude, as well as the dominant use of cotton and leather, supports the duos minimalist approach. The silhouettes are fresh and have heaps of edge, but are still, in a way, charming. Martinez Lierah isn’t for everyone, but it’s definitely for me!

The Spring/Summer 2013 collection from London based womenswear brand Draw In Light is a breathtaking collage of surreal prints from free-hand silk-screen techniques. Loose silhouettes fall effortlessly and the sometimes vibrant palette of black, white, red, pink and blue is soft, conjuring up images of walking down the beach or sitting in the glistening sun outside a cafe in the height of summer. This relaxed appeal isn’t new to Draw In Light, but this collection is a great reminder of what the brand stands for: uniqueness, minimalism, elegance, individualism and rawness, all aspects which go into producing quality, feminine garments.

In collaboration with Ukrainian womenswear brand BEVZA, New York-based Ukrainian photographer and cinematographer Lena Shkoda has produced a sublime campaign, “GYM”, for the brands fierce Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The beautifully elegant silhouettes of BEVZA look great in this urban gym setting, giving the shoot an undeniable edge which seems to both clash with and compliment the brands aesthetic, fitting in with designer Svetlana Bevza’s young, fearless and adventurous style this season. Never did I think that a collection underlined by luxury through its domineering use of silk would look so great in front of a bold red or yellow background, or in front of a basketball team.

London-based unisex brand Riyka is a favourite of mine, and the duo certainly didn’t disappoint with this rather delightful shift dress. Made from organic cotton and denim, the dress features “classic Riyka panelling on the front and back”, alongside a couple of large, fun and practical pockets. Sleeveless with a scoop neck, this is great, quirky summer piece, girls!
