How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

I was introduced to English band Bastille a few months ago after listening to “Overjoyed”. My friend has just introduced me to their new release, “Pompeii”, and I’m pretty much hooked. It’s catchy, up-beat, but with an ever so slight maudlin tinge to the lyrics. What more could we possibly want?

You can find out more about Bastille and purchase the new album on the bands website.

Rum or whiskey?

I’ve always been a bit of a fan of English indie rock band Noisettes, composed of singer and bassist Shingai Shoniwa and guitarist Dan Smith, and I’ve recently become obsessed with “Never Forget You”, one of their first tracks. If you haven’t heard it before or it’s been a long time since you last listened to it, I highly recommend that you have a listen!

You can view some new material from Noisettes on their official website.

Lonely robot in a wasteland

Sunday evenings are for music, and music is what I plan to fill my evening with. This brilliant track from I Blame Coco, ‘Selfmachine’, is a favourite of mine, especially for evening listening. Being the first track I ever listened to from I Blame Coco, I have a feeling that it will always be one of my favourites, if not my all-time favourite. At least, I hope it will. I’m hooked!

You can hear more from Eliot Sumner on the I Blame Coco website.

1234, tell me that you love me more

I was, once upon a time, absolutely obsessed with this track from Canadian singer-songwriter Feist, leading me to have a bit of a trip down memory lane yesterday evening and listen to it a couple of times over. There’s no doubt that it’s still as great as it ever was!

Another walk about, after dark

I’ve only recently come to know of the music of Canadian born artist, musician, and music video director Claire Boucher, better known by her stage name Grimes, but what I’ve seen from her has been sublime. At first I wasn’t sure about her seemingly unique approach to music but after listening to a few tracks over and over again, I really came to like her and, in particular, “Oblivion”, one of her most popular tracks.

You can view more from Grimes on her website.

Give us a kiss and maybe we can go out

My brother introduced me to The Fratellis, an indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, a few days ago and I’m now obsessed. “Henrietta” is my favourite track from the band at the moment, and I highly recommend that you give it a listen!

I rode around on my bicycle

My brother recommended that I listen to this track a few days ago and boy I’m glad I did. It’s catchy and up-beat, and just what you need when the weather outside is dark and dingy!

You can view more music from King Charles on their website.

I don’t have time to die

‘Death Proof’ is the title track from the upcoming Kate Nash EP and I can’t get enough of it. She’s grown and developed as an artist over the course of the past year or two and, in doing so, she’s gone a little crazy cool, and I think it’s bloody brilliant!
